Summer School
Classes and Schedule
Classes will be held at the UC Santa Barbara Dance Department facilities. Each studio is equipped with a sound system and a wood, or sprung dance floor.
Classes are open to dancers who are at least 11 years of age with a minimum of three years of ballet training, with no less than two ballet classes per week. Students must also hold their Cecchetti Grade III Certificate or higher or have an equivalent background. It is not necessary to be familiar with the Cecchetti method to attend. Teachers from all dance backgrounds who are wishing to further their teacher training are invited to attend.
Student Curriculum 
Cecchetti Syllabus:
- Grades 4-7
- Majors 8-10
- Masetro Cecchetti Final Diploma
Non Syllabus Classes:
- Pointe Work, Variations, & Pas de Deux
- Evening Lectures and Activities
Teacher Curriculum
Separate classes for teacher training.
Teachers will choose from four tracks of course work, whether new to the Cecchetti method or looking to further Cecchetti training, teachers’ needs are met with this curriculum. Choose the track that suits your needs:
- Grades 1-3 Teaching Certificate

- Grades 4-6 Teaching Certificate
- Associate and Licentiate Qualifying Exams
- Fellowship Qualifying Exam
All tracks include:
- Principles of teaching
- Music as applied in the classroom
- Evening lectures and applications
Schedule
Registration: Sunday, August 5, 12:00-4:00 pm
Welcome Reception: Sunday, August 5, 6:30 pm
Classes begin: Monday, August 6
Student Demonstration and Farewell Celebration: Saturday, August 11, 10:30 am
and 12:00 noon. Familes are invited to attend the Student Demonstration and Farewell Celebration.
