Louanne Wing Davies started her ballet training at the age of 5, inspired by her mother who danced in the first professional company in Johannesburg, South Africa. After beginning her training in the RAD method, her family moved to Kloof in the Durban area which led her to meet the noted Eileen Keegan, with whom she started training. Miss Keegan was a senior examiner for the Cecchetti Society in Southern Africa, and she danced in the famous Diaghilev Company, The Ballet Russe.
Ms. Davies went on to complete her training, achieving the Enrico Cecchetti Final Diploma and the coveted Fellowship status in the Cecchetti Method under the auspices of the ISTD. During this time, she also completed exams in Imperial Modern, Jazz, Tap and Spanish Flamenco. In her early years in the U.S. she danced in a Spanish Dance Company under Pablo Rodarte, and the Colorado Ballet for two years before opening her own studio in 1986. In 2003, she founded the Rocky Mountain Youth Dance Foundation to provide a means of dance instruction for children at risk.
After entering candidates for examinations from her own school since 1994, she went through training and became an Examiner for Cecchetti USA in 2016.
There is a huge hole in all our hearts for the loss of this lovely light that shined on so many of us here and around the world.
